The Buyer, Ingredients is responsible for the strategic sourcing of assigned specialty ingredients as well as market risk position and physical commodities in the Americas. The Buyer has full EBIT responsibility for the assigned category in all plants within the Americas region. Ingredient Buyer will participate, contribute and execute Sourcing activities in order to meet functional as well as organizational objectives, along with executing the leadership of the specialty ingredient categories to ensure smooth coordination and internal communication with other Barry Callebaut departments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop global sourcing strategies for multiple site production facilities throughout the Americas
- Identify, develop and nurture value add relationships with key vendors for all Specialty Ingredient components
- Negotiate and purchase Specialty ingredients cost effectively for assigned product groups
- Identify and capitalize on global procurement synergies with European and Asian buying groups
- Perform highly specialized functional analysis to support the business and provide interpretations of results back to management, customers or relevant stakeholders within the organization
- Make recommendations to VP relating to creative value add sourcing strategies that can impact price terms and conditions of agreements
- Prepare weekly update reports for upper management as needed
- Prepare as needed Excel reports, presentations and financial report formatting to support departmental reporting requirements or as may be required for analysis by management
- Process new and existing suppliers through QA onboarding/re-approval processes
- Provide professional guidance and support to internal and external customers, including active participation in relevant projects
- Initiate, build and maintain relations with a variety of institutions in order to obtain the best and most up-to-date statistical information in the area of expertise
- Endeavor to become Subject Matter Expert in assigned categories
- Represent BC in specialty ingredients external committees and actively network within the industry
- Perform other duties as required
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Supply Chain, Food Science or related field)
- MBA or CPSM Procurement Certification preferred
- 3+ years of experience in Food Ingredients Industry preferred
- Excellent strategic thinking and negotiating skills
- Strong ability to interact with multidisciplinary team
- Strong Project Management Skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing business
- Strong work ethic and integrity
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Organizational Agility – Internal Negotiation/Influencing Skills
- Experience with SAP MRP systems, Inventory Management Systems, QA documentation systems
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and financial reporting formats
- Available for travel up to 20%
