As the Import/Export Specialist / Warehouse Team Leader, the incumbent will control and monitor the customs clearance declaration process following local and federal regulations. Also, is responsible for other transportation issues that require specialized knowledge. Importing and exporting of GMP material, which requires special shipment details. Monitor customs and transportation invoices. The incumbent coordinates with Purchasing, Suppliers, Forwarders, Carriers, and Site Management filing prior to the Import shipments, required information such as roadmaps, classification information, importer filing and other requirements from other related regulatory agencies (ie. FDA, DEA, USDA). Responsible for supplies purchase requisition placement, material reconciliations, SOP maintenance, changes and training. Coordinates required meetings and trainings. Performs clerical functions related to the Logistics Unit including record keeping, typing, answering telephones, Safety Data entries, 5s audits, and audit answers. THIS IS SECOND SHIFT ONLY

  • Supervise warehouse team
  • Prepare the proper release documents at the PR Treasury Department Platform (SURI) to pick-up the merchandise at port.
  • Classify each imported goods as Taxable merchandise or Non-Taxable merchandise.
  • Preparation, filling and payment of the Import Declaration of Use.
  • Responsible of provide pick-up authorization to every maritime shipment on time.
  • Support and coordinates On-site delivery for goods, equipment, spare parts, raw material,
  • packaging components and manufacturing items.
  • Assist in the evaluation and coordination of all inbounds shipments for Guayama products from Domestic and International suppliers.
  • Prepare Import documentation to the US Customs Broker as needed. Provide documentation to Federal and/or Local Government agencies and maintain records to assure customs compliance. Perform data entry in SAP, SRM, Plateau, Service Requests, Work Orders, PDOCS and any other electronic supporting systems as required. Generate standard operating procedures changes using the electronic system.
  • Enforce quality and compliance policies, procedures and regulations and recognizes quality performance and behavior. Performs safety and SOP training to the Logistics areas.
  • Establish and maintain a traffic guide and enforce the use of it. Compile and report traffic data related to costs to the Transportation Council to assist in the evaluation of existing or new carriers. Establishes claims for damages of in-transit material, and follow-up to recover such costs. For Purchasing items, will determine the proper classification as per the Harmonized Classification Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSU). Act as a liaison for Customs, FDA, USDA; facilitate and assist with regulatory issues in conjunction with Technical Services, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Customs brokers and consultants.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of office supplies.
  • Generate work orders as required and provide status.
  • Maintain the proper filling of all the Traffic area documents.
  • Perform purchase requisitions into available systems and follows up on purchase orders for Logistics areas.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the plant and the company are meeting the required regulations for importing and exporting materials.
  • Perform the day-to-day activities of the warehouse for inbound and outbound declarations, ensure the timely and accurate filing of the appropriate US Customs declaration including but not limited to CF216, CF214, CF3461, CF7501, CF7512 actual and estimate.
  • Analyze and resolve any discrepancies between the inventory balance and FTZ inventory balance. Determine the correct classification and guarantee the proper values are utilized.
  • Act as a liaison with US Customs in the local Customs port regarding the FTZ.
  • Communicate with import/transportation departments and DC staff to ensure accurate, efficient and compliant product movement.
  • Evaluate the physical layouts in the facility to ensure efficient and compliant flow.
  • Prepare and present training material to DC staff periodically in order to review FTZ operational procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers through direct and timely contact over the phone, through the mail services or physical presence.
  • Maintain an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety by following all policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BBA, BA, BS or related field) with 8 years plus of experience in Supply Chain/Import-Export Compliance/ Foreign Trade Zone Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master’s degree – 5 years plus combined experience in the following areas: Supply Chain/Import-Export Compliance/ Foreign Trade Zone Management.
  • Deep knowledge of local and global regulations covering all kind of Import and Exports activities is essential. Experience/Knowledge in foreign trade activities and logistics.
  • Direct experience with the import/ export’s operations: Import and export planning & development Maintenance of Import & Exports Files requirements and applicable Regulations.
  • Deep knowledge of International Trade Agreements as long as to keep a tight tracking of all regulatory changes concerning Import & Exports activities.
  • Very strong communication skills (Spanish and English) both written and verbal. Strong English command is a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving/decision making skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Extremely organized, meticulous and detail oriented.
  • Minimum supervision required.
  • SAP Knowledge
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word.
