OVERVIEW
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metal and critical materials technology development and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant in Fernley, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separations, chemical extractions, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.
ABOUT THE JOB
The ABTC Business Development Team identifies and builds partnerships that enable ABTC’s critical projects and commercialization strategy. We collaborate with organizations across the lithium battery value chain to catalyze the development of more circular, sustainable solutions. As ABTC’s Market Intelligence and Business Development Analyst you will build and maintain knowledge systems that enable ABTC’s client-facing teams to optimize commercial decisions. This role will enable this profit-optimizing and prioritized decision-making processes by working across ABTC’s functions and gathering data from the external market. The ideal candidate is a contribution-motivated team member with a curious mind who is passionate about researching and analyzing data in order to move the organization forward by making better data-driven decisions. The candidate is comfortable creating clarity from ambiguity and escalating/presenting novel, data-driven business development strategies and key issues to senior management. The primary purpose of this project is to assist ABTC’s BD team to craft a pricing strategy for feed procurement per partner type. This includes developing a methodology and operational model for product line profitability analysis. Collaborate with the BD team to ensure these tools accurately connect to the financial results valued by the business. This position will report to the Corporate Development Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather market information regarding the going rate ($/MT) for end-of-life lithium batteries and battery manufacturing scrap per market vertical in the US
- Gather market information regarding existing and future players in LiB Recycling
- Identify additional sources of LiB materials, procurement strategies and target pricing for each form factor, chemistry type, etc.
- Develop a position and model that equips BD/Procurement/Finance teams with a price floor/ceiling for lithium battery materials for ABTC’s Recycling Facility
- Connect to publicly available market indices like the London Metals Exchange to ensure accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum required qualifications:
- 2-4 years’ experience as a Technology Analyst and Strategy Development role, with a strong focus on the EV, lithium battery, waste management and/or critical metal sectors
- 2+ years of experience using industry tools and data mining frameworks
- 2+ years of experience in conducting business analysis and creating cost models
- Degree or equivalent experience in economics, engineering, applied mathematics, data science, or a related quantitative field
Desired qualifications:
- Interest in building and maintaining technology partnership relationships, and business development
- Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Advanced technical degree and/or MBA
