POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently recruiting for a Bilingual Human Services Specialist III. This full-time 40 hour per week position pays $26.11 per hour and is located in Rockville MD.

Employees assigned to this position are subject to Union membership, fees, and dues in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and employment with ATHENA may be conditioned upon participation in client’s Union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet, screen, and assist clients who call the CSAC.
  • Identify the needs that bring the client to the CSAC.
  • Provide excellent customer service at every interaction.
  • Maintain the privacy of customer information at all times.
  • Assist clients with completing applications for DHHS programs and/or community agencies (such as Manna, Interfaith Works, A Wider Circle, medical and dental clinics) that will assist the client further.
  • Serve clients in their native language by either interpretation or using the Limited English Proficiency language line as needed.
  • Inform the customer of what they can expect next, time frames, next steps they need to take, and how and with whom to follow up.
  • Document all client interactions in the eICM database.
  • Collaborate with partners to plan, promote and/or participate at outreach events at least once per month.
  • Attend trainings and with work with IT to identify issues and improvements of technology systems.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
  • Recommend new approaches, polices, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Has thorough knowledge of DHHS and community resources to address customer needs, resolve problems, and answer questions.
  • Adheres to and practices HIPPA regulations.
  • Uses technology including software and applications (CARES, email, Office 365, the NON Database, MCG, Portal, MyDHR,etc) regularly.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities and tasks in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork and a collaborative spirit to enhance the site and customer service.
  • Demonstrates clarity and accuracy in verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Dependability and reliability to report to work in a timely fashion to receive clients.
  • Experience in interacting with and helping people from all backgrounds and situations.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Language proficiency-Ability to communicate in English, Spanish and/or other language(s)
  • Intermediate to proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to lean and use new software and programs (such as CARES, eICM,MyDHR, etc.)
  • Proven team player- ability to interact positively with coworkers daily in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Two years of experience in Health and Human Services field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
