JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: HR Manager

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Human Resources, the Payroll/Benefits Specialist performs a variety of technical and professional duties in support of the Human Resources Department. Maintains payroll and benefit record requirements for accounting of salary, benefits, accruals, and deductions. Provides information and assistance to Novacart employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Interprets, implements, and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to payroll and benefits.

2. Ensures payroll database reflects current and accurate information; verifies and inputs pay and data changes, oversees and monitors the HR Assistant’s inputs.

3. Calculates termination payments in compliance with employees’ hours and federal and state laws; calculates adjustments, special pays, retroactive payments, and overpayment of wages; issues manual payments as required.

4. Enters employee’s hours and time card adjustments.

5. Audits and maintains accurate benefit use and accruals.

6. Ensures the timely production and distribution of W2s.

7. Submits payroll and benefits reports to external agencies as requested.

8. Conducts all new employee orientations, and notifies new/existing employees on benefits, medical,

FMLA, Workers Compensation, and COBRA enrollment.

9.Assists all employees with questions regarding health-related disability, leave without pay, FMLA, and

Workers’ Compensation.

10. Assists all terminating/retiring employees with exit paperwork.

11. Maintains confidentiality of information exposed during business regarding employees, managers, supervisors, or other employees.

12. Communicating to Payroll Service any changes for example direct deposit, W-4, vacation, PTO/Sick requests, etc.

13. Communicating pay raises, and bonuses to Payroll Services.

14. Encourage newly eligible employees to enroll in 401K

15. Assist the CPC Retirement Specialist with year-end reports.

16. Provide 401 plan documents for enrollment, quarterly and annually.

17. Processing benefits enrollment quickly and accurately

18. Reviewing monthly payroll deductions.

19. Assisting new hire employees in enrolling in the medical plan.

20. Providing ongoing support for the HR and benefits team.

21. Consulting with employees about eligibility and other pertinent issues.

22. Other duties assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Education/Training:

  • Associate Degree in a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and four years of accounting/payroll experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of general Human Resources principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to assigned work.
  • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and methods.
  • Skill in evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities.
  • Skill in preparing detailed payroll reports.
  • Ability to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
  • Bi-lingual (English Spanish) preferred.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
