The Assistant Controller is responsible for both performing and monitoring the work of others performing activities related to Accounting, Financial Reporting, Cash Management and Regulatory Compliance of dealership operations. The Assistant Controller will lead, guide, train and supervise a team of direct reports working in roles typical of a dealership business office with the exception of payroll.

Salary

• $125000 - $150000 / year

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Controller or Business Manager in a multi-store dealership environment strongly preferred
• Experience with CDK required
• Strong supervisory skills
• Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Partners with Regional Controller to develop, implement and maintain accounting controls in all departments at all locations.
• Supervision of Regional Business Office staff
• Establish standardized procedures to maximize efficiency of direct reports of subordinates.
• Assists the Regional Controller with financial analysis
• Prepares and posts journal entries.
• Maintains and reconciles assigned schedules and reviews schedules assigned to Regional Business Office staff providing necessary supervision and support to ensure schedules are current.
• Ensures notes in reporting software are current and relevant.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts.
• Computes commissions and incentives for various positions in accordance with written pay plans.
• Assists with preparation of the monthly factory financial statements.
• Assists with completion of the monthly reporting package.
• Ensures all Form 8300s are filed timely by the dealership.
• Ensure timely filing of unclaimed property.
• Ensure timely filing of sales tax and tire fee returns
