Summary

The Associate Director, Alumni Engagement serves as a key member of the Advancement team by creating and implementing a broad spectrum of compelling opportunities for alumni engagement, to strengthen alumni connectivity with the school and maximize philanthropic revenue in support of BC Highs mission. The Associate Director will serve as a primary contact for BC Highs global Alumni Network, manage leadership volunteer committees, and create strategies to mobilize alumni through integrated and innovative programs that will result in an increased pipeline of engaged constituents/donors. The Associate Director will also manage a portfolio of leadership giving donors with responsibility for renewing annual gifts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Model Advancement team values of collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect to build a culture of trust within a diverse and high performing team
  • Serve as primary ambassador to BC Highs Alumni Network designing and implementing frequent touchpoints.
  • Working under the guidance of the Director of Events and Engagement, create and execute strategic programming that represents the interests of BC Highs Alumni Network of 15,000 living alumni, including but not limited to reunions and homecoming events, regional alumni events, networking programs, and alumni affinity group programming.
  • Manage key leadership volunteer programs including Alumni Advisory Council, reunion committees, Class Agent programs, and alumni affinity groups, leveraging volunteer relationships to deliver programs that meet the needs of BC Highs Alumni Network
  • In collaboration with Advancement and External relations staff, create multi-channel alumni content and communications to promote programs and increase alumni connection with the school, including managing the Alumni Network online engagement platform and LinkedIn presence
  • Manage portfolio of 125 alumni donors to build relationships, recruit volunteers, and renew annual gifts
  • Set and meet objectives for engagement and reunion programs with a focus on increasing participation
  • Meet revenue and expense goals for alumni programs in assigned areas
  • Engage with BC High community to stay current on key happenings and the Schools strategic direction
  • Represent Advancement as needed at local, regional, and national Advancement events as well as institutional events; represent BC High at community events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned; travel and weekend/evening work is required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 1-3 years of experience in alumni relations, community-building, volunteer management and/or other transferable work
  • Demonstrated experience and a desire to build relationships, recruit, manage, and sustain engagement with alumni volunteers
  • Strong writing, communication, interpersonal skills, and a sense of humor are essential
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, digital communication tools, social media, and databases is required, proficiency in Raisers Edge fundraising software is preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across internal and external constituencies; ability to handle multiple projects with high attention to organization and detail; ability to travel and work outside of regular business hours when necessary
