Assistant Shop Manager
This role is full time starting at $29.50 an hour (large shop ASM wage).

The ASM role supports the shop managers in their leadership and administrative duties. ASMs serve as leaders in the shop (especially when the shop manager is not present or is unavailable). This role encompasses all Molly Moon’s shift leader duties with additional management and administrative duties as detailed below and as assigned by shop managers and Molly Moon’s HQ.
ASMs are responsible for delivering on our promise to create welcoming multi-generational community gathering places and leading their shop teams in delivering great service, consistent scoops, and good vibes during every shift. This role is an ideal stepping-stone into management and enjoys guaranteed minimum hours year-round with many opportunities for advancement in our growing company.

RESPONSIBILITIES – SPECIFIC TO ASM
Support shop managers in their admin duties as needed – these include but are not limited to scheduling, updating and auditing shop documents, approving shift trades, finding shift coverage, responding to customer feedback, and ongoing shop projects
Serve as the point person for all FOH shop operations for shop manager days off and other times they are unavailable or OOO—a primary responsibility in this role is ensuring shop managers can truly step away from the business for 2 days every week
Work with the shop manager to meet or beat shop sales and profitability goals, provide great customer experiences, and sustain high team morale
Effectively manage their staff of scoopers and shift leaders including hiring, training, coaching, and celebrating success
Identify and communicate operational needs to the appropriate person within Molly Moon’s
Coordinate and participate in on-boarding and training for external hires and internal promotions
Participate in hiring as needed
Participate in inventory and inventory review in collaboration with shop managers and chefs
RESPONSIBILITIES – ALL SHIFT LEADERS
Function as the “manager on duty” responsible for all business execution during their shift including cash handling, cleanliness, playing fun upbeat music, keeping team morale high, and delighting our customers
Manage and prioritize flow of tasks, breaks, and scooping during shift
Responsible for cash handling during shift, including open/close and deposits
Communicate company goals effectively with all employees, including giving direction, coaching, training, and celebrating awesomeness
Model respectful management and communication tactics
Problem solve and use good judgment
Set an example of top-notch service and scooping every day, including all scooper responsibilities:

Welcome and thank every customer
Offer customers samples, menu suggestions, and add-ons with a generous, friendly attitude
Scoop scoops, make sundaes and mix shakes with love
Keep calm and scoop on when it gets busy

Hustle and lead others to keep the shop looking great and fully stocked
Continually stock ice cream, sorbet, waffle cones, and merchandise
Operate cash register; follow Molly Moon’s cash handling procedures
Wash tubs and dishes throughout your shift
Keep shop inviting and clean: inside and out, front and back
Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines with care
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Internal candidate must currently be a shift leader who has completed the Shop Manager career pathway, or already fulfills the requirements for an external applicant. Candidates may also apply if they are eligible to start career pathways and commit to completing the pathway within 6 months of accepting an ASM position.
External candidates must have prior experience in a management position with teams larger than 5—their training will include completing the shift leader to shop manager pathway
Must be available 30 hours per week and ASMs are guaranteed those hours. ASMs may work fewer than 30 hours but must work at least 4 shifts a week to ensure Shop Manager coverage.
Have great communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude
Have retail or client/customer service experience
Be over 18 in order to work late nights. Most shifts are closing shifts and are scheduled until midnight
Be available to work at least one closing weekend shift (Friday-Sunday)
Ability to travel to multiple stores and the Molly Moon’s office
Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
Have access to a phone that can text, make calls, and access the internet
Between May 1 and Sept 31 vacations may not exceed 10 days. Vacations are subject to manager approval based on shift coverage, staffing, and business need
In the winter months between Oct 1 and April 30 vacations may not exceed 21 days. Vacations are subject to manager approval based on shift coverage, staffing, and business need

Washington state food handler’s permit required
Verification of vaccination against Covid-19 is a requirement for employment at Molly Moon’s. We also strongly encourage all mooncrew to receive booster shots when eligible and offer$100 bonuses to everyone who already has one or chooses to get one after being hired. Medical and religious exemptions are considered in accordance with state and federal guidelines. There is no test out option.
COMPENSATION
$29.50/hour starting wage for external candidates.
Existing wage plus $4.00/hour for internal shift leader candidates.
Annual merit based pay increases on your work anniversary, plus annual cost of living pay increase every April.
15 days PTO per year, accrued hourly, to be used as vacation or Sick and Safe Pay with 16 hours front-loaded at start date for external hires.
Flexible scheduling, posted 2 weeks at a time with the ability to trade shifts.

Assistant shop managers are eligible for health insurance on the first day they begin work at Molly Moon’s. Molly Moon’s pays 100% of premium for qualifying employees and their children. A spouse may be insured on company plan at employee’s expense.
Supplemental paid family leave benefits for employees who qualify for and receive Washington State Paid Family Leave. Molly Moon’s will pay the difference between the paid PFML benefit and 100% of an employee’s regular hourly earnings for the duration of your ESD approved leave up to a maximum of 18 weeks.
401k with employer match of 1% in the first year of participation, 2% year 2, and 3% year three. Employees are eligible for 401k participation when they have worked at Molly Moon’s for 12 consecutive months.
