Responsibilities:
  • Advise students and alumni on all areas of career development and career management including resume writing, interviewing and presentation skills, job search techniques and networking. Familiarize students with Career Success and Experiential Education resources. Administer and interpret career assessments to properly advise students and alumni. Conduct “site visits” for students in experiential education positions
  • Collaborate with academic partners to embed Canvas Career Commons modules in courses, deliver career-related workshops, class presentations. Connect with student clubs & professional organizations to provide career readiness workshops for members. Create and deliver specific Career Success and Experiential Education informational programs to be presented to incoming students and their parents during scheduled orientation programs
  • Perform follow-up with students after advising sessions and participation in Career Success and Experiential Education programs and events to further student development and capture placement data
  • In conjunction with Career Success and Experiential Education team members, create and implement outreach initiatives to increase Career Success and Experiential Education's visibility among faculty and staff to build strong cooperative relationships with the department
  • Collaborate with all members of the Career Success and Experiential Education staff to integrate labor market, employer and recruitment information into student, career management activities, including but not limited to, the internship search process and the internship work experience itself.
  • Represent Career Success and Experiential Education at Admissions Open Houses, orientation programs, and other college-wide events which may occur on the weekend or in the evening. Plan and manage specific informational programs to be presented to incoming students and their parents during the annual orientation month.
  • Serve on other campus committees that impact student recruitment, retention, and development as directed by the Director of Career Success. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career Success and other administrators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in career services, higher education, student affairs, human resources, advising or a related field required.
  • Military Veteran candidates are welcome.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong critical thinking, time management and intercultural communication skills.
  • Knowledge of career development theories, practices, and career assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of Career Management Software is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, French, Hindi, or Urdu a plus, but not required.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary: USD $58,500.00/Yr. Maximum Salary: USD $60,000.00/Yr.
