The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring two Military Affairs Security Officer Senior positions at Volk Field in Camp Douglas, WI. Both of these positions are twelve hour night shift positions.

Position Summary
The Volk Field Security Officer – Lead position is responsible for providing leadership and making decisions relating to the operation of the Security Forces (SF) department during their assigned shift under the direction of the SF Supervisor and SF Manager (SFM). This position is responsible for ensuring that officers on shift are correctly completing the required duties of the department IAW department regulations and policies. This position will act as a liaison between the security officers and the Supervisor / SFM for any issues within the department. This position will also function as the primary trainer of assigned officers ensuring they are receiving the required training. This position will also perform the duties of a Volk Field Security Officer to accomplish the mission of securing and protecting personnel, property, and resources within Volk Field’s 2,500 acres and along its outside perimeter.
Salary Information
New hires currently start at $26.22 per hour once they pass the qualification to carry firearms. This starting wage consists of a base pay of $21.22 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty, and an additional *temporary* bonus add-on of $3 for hours in work status. (The employer will provide the required firearm training.) This position is in the 05/12 pay schedule/range. A 12 month probation may be required.
These positions also have Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Comp Plan.
Job Details
- This position requires medical, fitness, and psychological examination.
- Must be able to qualify to carry firearms
- Must pass a criminal background check and be able to be cleared to obtain a security clearance
- Must hold and maintain valid driver's license
- All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
Qualifications
Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have experience with:
- Assessing training needs or providing training to other staff.
- Performing typical security activities for an organization (patrol, entry control, protection of property, etc.)
Well-Qualified candidates will also have:
- Certification as a security or law enforcement instructor.
- Military security experience
- Experience performing officer in charge or dispatcher duties in a security operations center.
