JOB SUMMARY:

Inventory Lead is crucial to our warehouse operations with multi-functional responsibilities that focus on supervising the inventory team including material handlers. This position is also responsible for maintaining the cycle count activity and reconciliation of daily counting activity. The success of the work performed in this position is a critical element of our company's ability to meet the needs of our customers. The person in this position is responsible for ensuring that inventory of materials and products is in accordance with inventory cycle counting and accuracy goals and acts as supply chain lead for metrics. Additionally, this position initiates disposition of excess, obsolete, or unusable inventory. Reviews inventory accuracy and inventory management programs such as cycle counts and physical inventory to ensure compliance. Monitors inventory trends and provides feedback and analytical support as needed. Supervises inventory control employees.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with the planning of the layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels
  • Trains, directs, and assigns workload to a team of employees for one or more accounts in the warehouse
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Sets cycle counts of inventory, researches and clears any discrepancies
  • Reviews daily reports and ensure completion of key tasks designed to keep an accurate inventory
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists
  • Assists in performing physical inventories and proper stock rotation
  • Performs audits and cycle counts according to company's procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Performs other tasks as assigned by Distribution Supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse, yard, or stockroom inventory role
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems preferred
  • Experience with forklift operation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and motor control to use common drafting implements and calculators.
