Summary

The Geoscience Analyst will be responsible for providing technical expertise in obtaining, reviewing, and managing geoscience and geospatial data to support the Upstream business objectives. This position will work with Geologists, Geophysicist, GIS Technical Advisors as well as other technical and business staff to provide accurate and timely data to various software platforms. In addition, the individual will provide displays and presentation material of geologic data and interpretations to communicate results to peers and senior management. This is a hands-on position, requiring accuracy, attention to detail and flexibility with changing priorities and goals. They must work to solve problems, resolve conflicts and conflicting priorities as well as providing stability to workflows

Essential Functions
Include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtain data from various sources including proprietary company data, industry data providers such as Enverus and IHS Markit, proprietary industry data and assure quality of information, geospatial integrity, and connection with other software platforms
  • Anticipate and address data needs to achieve business goals in a timely manner, as well as respond to data requests and provide highest quality data
  • Have or develop Geologic knowledge to identify proper use of subsurface data such as well logs, well location and production information
  • Be able to review, load and maintain 2-D and 3-D seismic data volumes, and accurately load data to interpretation platforms
  • Knowledge or ability to develop skills to utilize basic ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro software platforms to provide basic maps across technical and commercial disciplines
  • Manage geologic data from data rooms for evaluations and updates
  • Support geoscience evaluations and data associated with initial drilling on acquired assets
  • Collaborate across the company to provide relevant geologic data for multiple groups

Experience

  • Experience as a geologic or geoscience technician / analyst at a E&P operating company essential with specific experience in the job functions.
  • Recent experience working at an independent or private equity based upstream firm highly desirable.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience as a geoscience Technician/ Analyst in an upstream oil and gas enterprise
  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline desired, proven experience can substitute
  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Highly self-sufficient with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Demonstrated curiosity to look for new and better ways to solve problems related to subsurface energy development

Travel
Minimal travel is required for this position. When necessary, travel would be to or just outside of the wellsite location.

Working Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
