Driftwood is seeking an Analyst to join the Driftwood Lending Team focused on originating high-yield subordinated debt for hotels across the United States. In this role, the Analyst will have the opportunity to work on all aspects of investment process including deal sourcing, financial analysis and modeling, due diligence, and execution. The Analyst will prepare detailed financial analysis and models including those for transaction underwriting and return on investment analysis and will provide key takeaways to senior management. The Analyst will also immerse themselves in the other capital market functions across Driftwood’s hotel acquisition, development, and legacy portfolio activities.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary underwriting analysis.
- Assist with market and property level due diligence including cash flow projections, historical performance analysis, valuation models, sensitivity analysis, and market research.
- Construct and maintain financial models in Excel.
- Prepare investment summaries and presentations.
- Review third party reports, term sheets, loan documentation, and all other due diligence materials.
- Assist on special projects and ad hoc assignments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in the CRE debt and/or equity marketplace, preferably at an investment bank, buy-side, or advisory firm.
- Proven interest in underwriting and valuation experience including construction, transitional, and stabilized assets, preferably with exposure to hotels.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically in Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work on multiple projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas and solutions to investment committees.
- Motivated self-starter.
- The role is based in our office in Coral Gables (Miami), Florida. This is not a remote role.
