Agriculture Institute Specialist Instructor, Meat Cutting Instructor Job at Vermont State Colleges
This position is a part-time temporary position supporting the specialized agricultural trainings offered through Vermont Tech's Agriculture Institute. The Institute for Applied Agriculture and Food Systems and this position supports students, farmers, working land professionals and agricultural specialists with educational opportunities related to animals, plants, trees, soils, food systems, sustainability, mechanical systems and agriculture business management.
The instructor will be teaching Butchering Basics. This training will be from July 18th-19th from 9:00am - 4:00pm with additional trainings throughout the year.
The instructor will cover the basics of whole-animal butchery with both instruction and hands-on demonstration. The instructor will teach participants how to break down beef, pork, chicken, and lamb into primals, subprimals, and case-ready cuts. Value added processing, such as sausage, smokes hams, and bacon will also be covered, with an emphasis on food safety, sourcing, and maintaining high utilization of whole animals.
Minimum Qualifications: 5 years of experience in processing meat.
Non-bargaining unit Part Time, Temporary, $800.00 stipend payment for 2 day trainings and $2,400.00 stipend for week long trainings
Location: South Royalton and Waitsfield, VT
