There's an exciting opportunity available with Robert Half for an experienced Accounts Receivable (A/R) professional to join a growing organization in the Import/Export industry. In this role, you will enter, post and reconcile batches, research and resolve customer A/R issues, prepare aging report, place billing and collection calls, maintain cash receipts journal, update, and reconcile sub-ledger to G/L. This is a long-term contract / temporary to hire Accounts Receivable Clerk position and is based in the Wood Dale, Illinois area.

Your responsibilities

• Process payments and compile segments of annual reports and monthly closings in compliance with GAAP
• Communicate, reinforce, and support the values, culture, and mission of the organization
• Corroborate documents and codes
• Settle bank accounts, posting and balancing financial data in a variety of ledgers
• Carry out an assortment of basic accounting tasks in accordance with standard procedures, including general accounting tasks
• Pinpoint delinquent customer accounts through various means, e.g. written correspondence, phone contact, skip-tracing, and making arrangements for payment
• Offer information to shippers, customers, the sales/marketing department and other stakeholders
• Assist in setting up payment plans; contact clients to help resolve payment issues
• Less than one year of experience preferred
• Analytical skills in basic accounts receivable and accounting policy
• Knowledge of commercial collections
• Billing Collection experience
• Deep understanding of Commercial Collections
• Excellent attention to detail
• General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred
• AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting or related field
• Experience with ERP systems
