Accounts Payable Manager (2333) Job at SMX
SMX has an exciting opportunity for a talented Accounts Payable Manager in a high-growth environment. This position is 100% remote.
The Accounts Payable Manager position involves managing a team, ensuring that all invoices are processed accurately and on time, and reconciling vendor statements. Responsibilities also include maintaining good relationships with vendors and subcontractors and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
The Accounts Payable Manager is a critical role in maintaining the financial health of a company by ensuring that bills are paid accurately, on time, and properly reconciled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with accounting staff and Assistant Controller on day-to-day accounting functions and monthly closing process, particularly regarding accounts payable.
- Partner with Assistant Controller to monitor Accounts Payable KPI's on a routine basis and provide other reporting as deemed necessary.
- Oversee all aspects of the accounts payable department and develop a scalable team.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Document process and procedure documentation as well as desktop manuals.
- Automate manual processes and fully utilize Costpoint tools such as preprocessors.
- Streamline accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Enhance department structure, including roles and responsibilities, to position team for future growth.
- Continue to build partnerships with other departments to facilitate workflow.
- Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy.
- Research and resolve vendor and employee inquiries and communicate appropriately.
- Establish quarterly goals for team members and promote their professional development goals.
- Provide guidance and training to ensure adherence to company travel policies as well as governmental, regulatory, and legislative requirements.
- Provide management with ad hoc reports as requested.
- Support internal and external audits.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Clearance Required: US Citizenship required for work on DOD contracts
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of experience in accounting with increasing responsibility
- 5+ years of management experience
- Proven leadership and management capability
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint Accounts Payable and Expense modules
- Experience with FAR, CAS, and JTR
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Orders to Cash process
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, sumif, and vlookup)
- Willingness and ability to track and meet multiple and competing deadlines
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
