The Roanoke office of Gentry Locke has an immediate opening for an Accounting Processor to join its team. This position supports a variety of duties related to primary function of accounts payable and reconciliation of various accounts. The Accounting Processor provides back up to the Accounts Payable Specialist. Successful candidates will have proven experience in accounts payable, excellent communication skills and a high-level of accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process check requests and distribute checks twice daily.
  • Processes reimbursable expense checks for all companies.
  • Processes account refund checks for Gentry Locke and Gentry Locke Consulting.
  • Assigns virtual credit cards to legal staff for electronic filing fees as needed.
  • Gives petty cash disbursements as needed.
  • Obtains 501(c) verification and related recordkeeping for charitable contributions, as needed.
  • Researches and resolves issues with vendors / W-9 forms / invoices in preparation for 1099 processing.
  • Processes and files 1099’s at year end.
  • Post electronic and check cash receipts daily for Gentry Locke and Gentry Locke Consulting.
  • Process positive pay daily on all accounts.
  • Assist with the year-end budget.
  • Reconcile gift cards and firm credit card(s).
  • Enters costs and expenses from time sheets daily.
  • Posts time.
  • Provides backup to the Accounts Payable Specialist.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required or Preferred:

  • Experience working in an accounts payable role or knowledge of accounts payable/accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and practices preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to processes and procedures within the accounting department and communicate those to staff members and attorneys.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
