Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in low-income communities. Our after-school program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and enrichment components. These programs are educational, engaging, and effective.

Scholars Unlimited is currently recruiting academic specialists for the after-school session for the 2022-2023 school year. Academic Specialists will work with individual students who need extra help and will assist other staff members when required. Scholars Unlimited's program will start September 6, 2022, and end May 12, 2023. The program will be held in our partner schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Central Denver, North Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster. Hours of the program will vary with the school's dismissal bell times. Typically the hours may start as early as 2:30 pm and go as late as 5:30 pm.

**MUST HAVE FIRST TWO VACCINATIONS AND WE RECOMMEND BEING BOOSTED**

Job Requirements & Expectations:

• Provide assistance for children that the site director and multi-site manager have determined need extra assistance
• Sit side-by-side with individual students whether they are learning literacy with the teacher or working on the computer with Lexia, our online reading program
• The academic specialists may also need to be side-by-side with the student during recreation/enrichment
• During the times when there are no individual students to assist, the academic specialist will float to help other positions, particularly in the recreation/enrichment program

• Provide safe and quality care for all students
• Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

• In good standing with Scholars Unlimited
• Able to work the entire schedule
• Ability to relate to children
• Experience with literacy instruction
• Must pass Human Services child care requirements for child care licensing: must have at least 3 months (460 hours) of full-time or equivalent and verifiable experience working with school-age children (ages 5-12). Volunteer work may also apply,
• Some college is a plus
