Job Description

  • Using prescribed curriculum, provide large, small and individual group instruction.
  • Flexibility as it relates to children and the teams needs.
  • Assist in meal preparation and helping children at meal time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced academic setting and to take the initiative when needed.
  • Provide activities and instruction for students and parents as planned by the preschool team.
  • Assist students with the development of self-help skills, language skills, and fine and gross motor skills.
  • Correct daily work assignments of all students in all areas.
  • Maintain student discipline.
  • Implement behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum and LETRS programs preferred.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment, ie, copy machines, video equipment, computers, recorders, etc.
  • Contact parents and advise regarding student progress and attendance.
  • Attend evening monthly parent meetings and other evening events.
  • Provide and conduct home visits and conferences.
  • Provide for student safety and hygiene including classroom cleaning and organization.
  • Assist students from the bus to the classroom; assist students from the classroom to the bus.
  • Instructional Assistant Teachers, in monitoring individual student objectives and assessing students.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the building principal.
  • The instructional Assistant will be responsible to the Building Principal
  • Purposeful academic interaction with children in all phases of the school day.
  • Must be willing to work as a team player and to communicate disagreements in a respectful and meaningful manner.
  • Must maintain confidentiality
  • Must meet PESB requirements for the Fundamental Course of Study.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must meet state requirements for COVID 19 vaccination or an exemption to the COVID 19 vaccination as a condition of employment by the first day of work

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate, or GED.
  • AA degree, or 48-semester credits or 72-quarter credits from an institution of higher education, or having successfully passed the Washington State Academic Assessment Praxis II Para Pro Test (WASST).
  • Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative
  • Bilingual Preferred

Terms of Employment

Starting Date: February 22, 2022

Salary: Per 21-22 PSE – Salary Schedule

Hours: 7.5 hrs/day
