23-24 WorkSource JBLM Outreach & Technology Navigator Job at AmeriCorps
More than 5,000 military members transition out of JBLM annually, with approximately 48 percent of them remaining in Washington State. The remainder are returning to other states across our nation. These military members are thrust into the civilian workforce upon departing. Nationally, the rate of unemployed military spouses in 2020 was 32 percent, three times the rate of the general population. WorkSource Affiliate JBLM is a unique concept designed assist these populations by providing inside-the-gate job readiness and job placement services to those who served or continue to serve. WorkSource JBLM directly supports transitioning military members and their families through an integrated partnership and wrap-around services model. The team includes government and non-profit organizations that directly contribute to job readiness and career attainment in jobs that support the military families. Through their service the AmeriCorps navigators play a key role in this partnership. Through targeted outreach (either in-person or virtual) to military family events, such as town halls, newcomer orientations, and military spouse network meetings, our navigators boost customer awareness and educate our target populations on the many services and resources available to them. They also undertake a strategic and deliberate social media campaign that includes marketing product development and multi-site posting. Their service to the team and customer makes a difference! Interviews for this critical position will occur in the month of July. This is an AmeriCorps National Service position, contingent upon funding and open until filled.
Member Duties : Serving on an integrated team, the AmeriCorps navigators provide individualized computer and technology assistance to job seeking customers. They also educate customers on the capabilities and use of the WorkSourceWA website to improve job readiness and career attainment. The navigators create targeted social media marketing materials and post these to sites focused on military-affiliated populations to engage potential customers. They deliver innovative training on career readiness and job search strategies. They also serve as team members on office continuous quality improvement efforts, promoting customer-focused initiatives and projects. Lastly, the WorkSource JBLM Outreach and Technology Navigators attend a variety of base and community outreach events to promote the services and resources available to job seeking military family members. This position may serve the partners and customers in either a virtual or in-person setting, depending on the situation and task.
