4-H PYD AmeriCorps is looking for members who want to make a difference in their community by increasing education opportunities available to youth. AmeriCorps members teach, lead, and facilitate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) hands-on activities to underserved youth in a variety of settings, to help spark interests, and develop skills that will increase their academic and professional success in the future.

As part of our team, you will expand your experience in education curriculum development, education presentation, and other professional skills. AmeriCorps spend 60% of their time in front of students teaching. If you are looking for a way to increase your experience in education while serving, 4-H AmeriCorps is for you. Other responsibilities include data collection, community outreach, and networking.

The ideal candidate will serve at the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise, delivering field trips on site to school groups, creating engaging STEAM lessons and activities for summer Nature Camps that are age appropriate for K-5th grade, setting up and taking down of Nature Camp materials weekly, and submitting weekly Nature Camp activity plans and supply lists to Education Director for approval.

AmeriCorps members are:

  • Interested in working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Passionate about education and interested in plants and animals
  • Committed to community service and making a difference in youth’s lives
  • Able and willing to facilitate STEAM programming
  • 17 years or older
  • U.S. citizen, or U.S. national lawful permanent resident
  • Able to clear the National Service Criminal History Checks
  • Willing to travel, must have valid driver’s license
  • Self-motivated and work independently
