Youth Development Instructor Job at Scholars Unlimited
Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in low-income communities. Our after-school program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and enrichment components. These programs are educational, engaging, and effective.
Scholars Unlimited is currently recruiting Youth Development Instructors for the after-school session for the 2022-2023 school year. Under the direction of the Site Director, and the Scholars Unlimited program staff, the Youth Development Instructors will work with students at our partner school sites to plan and implement enrichment projects, and recreation activities. Scholars Unlimited programs are located at elementary schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Central Denver, North Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster. Scholars Unlimited's program will start September 6, 2022, and end May 12, 2023. Hours of the program will vary with the school's dismissal bell times. Typically the hours may start as early as 2:30 pm and go as late as 5:30 pm.
**MUST HAVE FIRST TWO VACCINATIONS AND WE RECOMMEND BEING BOOSTED**
Job Requirements & Expectations
- Plan and lead activities for small groups of up to 15 students
- Implement principles of recreation and project-based education
- Help coordinate daily enrichment activities
- Serve as a role model for students
- Provide safe, and quality, care to students
- Pass Social Services child care requirements: must have at least 3 months (460 hours) of full-time or equivalent satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children (ages 5-12). Volunteer work may also apply. (This can be shown through a letter from a previous employer.)
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR within the first 30 days of employment
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Attend all training and staff meetings
- Communicate with Scholars Unlimited staff and Site Director
- Must complete all paid pieces of training (training list will be provided upon hire)
- Adhere to all Scholars Unlimited policies as stated in the staff manual.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience and Skills
- Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to develop and implement project-based units for elementary-age students
- Must have at least 460 verifiable hours of experience with elementary school-aged children in a professional setting
- High School diploma or college-level classes
- Elementary school experience
- Able to work all scheduled hours after school
- In good standing with Scholars Unlimited
Compensation
- $18.00/hr for instruction, training, and planning
Incentives: Earn up to $600 in incentives
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
