Counselor @ EBAYC Sacramento
EBAYC Sacramento seeks a passionate and mission-driven individual to serve as Counselor to provide life coaching, systems navigation, and family support to Southeast Asian male youth (14 to 18 year olds) experiencing mental wellness and other behavioral health challenges. The Counselor is a direct report to the EBAYC Sacramento Director of Counseling.
Job Responsibilities
1. Reach out to high-need Southeast Asian male youth and engage their participation and enrollment in EBAYC.
2. In collaboration with each youth, conduct quarterly assessments of youth needs, strengths, and interests.
3. In collaboration with each youth, establish quarterly Life Map goals and action steps.
4. Maintain frequent and consistent check-ins with each youth.
5. Provide life coaching support to each youth.
6. Provide navigation and advocacy support with school and juvenile justice systems.
7. Broker access to support services, including mental health, employment, and college access.
8. Plan, organize, and facilitate social and recreational activities.
9. Document all outreach, intake assessment, goals, action steps, and case logs in the Apricot database system.
10. Participate in all EBAYC meetings and activities.
Required Competencies
1. Ability to build and sustain working relationships with Southeast Asian male youth engaged in high-risk behaviors and/or experiencing mental wellness challenges.
2. Ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with teachers, school administrators, and juvenile justice officers.
3. Demonstrates a personal culture of customer service and professional collaboration.
4. Commitment to working in and building a culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, healing-centered youth and family service organization.
5. Commitment to EBAYC’s vision, mission, and theory-of-change.
6. Fluency in Hmong, Vietnamese, or Mien.
7. Negative Result on tuberculosis test.
8. LiveScan background clearance.
9. Valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
Employee Status: 100% FTE, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 6:00
Start Date: January 2, 2023
Compensation: $51,000 to $69,000 annual salary, depending on relevant professional experience, plus health, dental, leave, and retirement benefits
