Job Title: X-Ray Technologist Reports To: Practice Administrators FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Responsible for radiological services as well as other clinical services while working in conjunction with medical providers, office, and clinical staff by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs accurate x-rays as ordered by the medical provider while practicing radiation safety precautions.
  • Provides explanations of procedures to patients and caretakers.
  • Performs immobilization of the patient as necessary for procedures and radiologic exams.
  • Performs calculation of exposure factors and evaluates radiographs for technical quality.
  • Prepares and sends images to radiologist or outside service for interpretation, as well as reports interpretation to medical providers.
  • Retrieves and attaches radiographic interpretation to the electronic medical record.
  • Participates in the completion of the daily checklist, as well as any assigned duties and tasks necessary to maintain compliance with established policies/procedures, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control standards required by federal and state regulations.
  • Performs basic nursing skills to include; obtain and record vital signs, lab specimen collection, phlebotomy, injections, patient's clinical intake such as chief complaint, past medical and social history and properly document in patient's electronic medical record. Also communicates changes in the patient's condition to the medical provider.
  • Assists provider with exams, procedures, instructions and other processes related to patient care under direct supervision.
  • Performs occupational health procedures including; urine drug screens, breath alcohol tests, DOT physicals, audiograms, respirator fit tests, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Displays knowledge and ability to perform lab procedures to include all CUA waived lab testing protocols. Ensures all related labs, results, and reports are attached in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Maintains all logs and required checks, (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, etc.) to ensure quality assurance of the laboratory and radiology equipment.
  • Maintains a clean work area, stocks exam rooms, decontaminates medical equipment, and prepares instruments for sterilization as required.
  • Performs clerical duties such as registration, check out, and answering/returning phone calls.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent as well as to draw/interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills, computer radiography, PACS, electronic medical record systems, and internet navigation.Specialized Training:Licensed and accredited by A.R.R.T and state, if applicable.Schedule Availability:

Availability to work 12-hour shifts for majority of all shifts with occasional 6-hour shifts when needed. Due to the nature of our business, every employee is required to work some holidays every year. Full Time employees are required to work 5 (12-hour) holiday shifts per year. Part time/casual employees will be required to work 3-4 holidays per year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and skill in documentation and maintaining patient electronic medical records
  • Ability to accurately perform required x-rays as ordered by the medical provider/s as well as complete Quality Assurance processes knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Ability to work well and effectively with others
