    We are seeking an energetic, collaborative team member to work with our students to empower them to discover and achieve their potential! This team member will provide effective services to help all of our students succeed, socially, emotionally, behaviorally.

    In this Role:
    The Building Administrator will provide leadership and management that promote learning for every student. The assistant principal leads others and is a steward for learning – student learning, staff learning, and parent learning. They provide a clear vision, inspiration, energy, and insight for all stakeholders in an inclusive culture. The Assistant Principal is a conveyer of best practices, catalyst of learning, and a protector of the whole child. They have a set of beliefs and skill set that guide the school in day-to-day operations to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all students, staff, and families. The assistant principal helps to orchestrate a complex, dynamic, and collaborative community of learners where student learning is always the central focus. List of responsibilities include:
    • Living a Vision, Mission, and Beliefs focused on results
      • Advance the District vision that leads to student improvement for all learners
      • Develops shared vision for rigor and high expectations
      • Ensure vision and mission drive school decisions
      • Confronts low expectations
      • Conducts crucial conversations based on student performance data for purpose of enhancing student learning
    • Leading and managing system change
      • Develops, implements and monitors outcomes of school improvement plan and student achievement data to improve student learning
      • Creates safe, clean and orderly learning environment
      • Collaborates with staff to achieve school improvement plan targets
      • Utilizes current technologies to support leadership and management functions
      • Aligns resources to improve teaching and learning
    • Improving teaching and learning
      • Works with and engages staff in shared vision for effective teaching and learning by implementing standard based curriculum, relevant to student needs and interests, researched-based effective practices, academic rigor and high expectations for student learning in every classroom
      • Implements curricular scope and sequence
      • Reviews instructional practices
      • Creates an environment and culture of continuous improvement
      • Implements data guided decisions and instruction
      • Evaluates the effectives of teaching
      • Delivers and ensure professional learning for teachers that enhance student learning
    • Building and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships
      • Creates, develops and sustains relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process
      • Utilizes meaningful feedback of students, staff, families, and community in evaluation of school programs and policies
      • Proactively engages families and community in support of child’s learning and school learning goals
      • Demonstrates an understanding of the change process
      • Strengthens collaboration among staff
    • Leading with integrity and professionalism
      • Treats all people fairly and with dignity and respect. Protects the rights and confidentiality of students and staff
      • Demonstrates personal and professional standards and conduct that enhance the image of the school and education profession

      • Uses PBIS strategies to support student success in their actions and behaviors

    Additional Duties
    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Principal or other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    What You Need:
    • Knowledge of foundations in teaching and learning
    • Knowledge and skills in evidence-based behavior management approaches
    • Minimum of four years as an effective or highly effective teacher
    • Knowledge and skills in collecting, analyzing, and maintaining student data, as well as the formulation of data-based action plans as part of the school improvement process
    • Experience with MTSS and instructional best practices
    • Substantial experience in a variety of leadership roles
    • Knowledge and skills in State and Federal grant programs
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students, including knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
    • Success in creating a positive, open, enthusiastic, and well-organized teaching and learning environment
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
    Education
    • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in education leadership/administration
    • Meet State of Michigan Administrative Certification requirements
    • Minimum of 4 years of Effective/Highly Effective teaching experience
    Experience
    Successful prior experience as an Administrator preferred
