WORK-BASED LEARNING COORDINATOR


Position Summary

The Work-Based Learning Coordinator is responsible for delivering work-based learning activities that include job shadowing, internships, unpaid work experience, and paid work experience. The Work-Based Learning Coordinator works with the instructional staff to facilitate work-based experiences for all students. In addition, the Work-Based Learning Coordinator places and monitors the activities and progress of students enrolled in Employer-based training and provides monthly support classes for these students.

Qualifications

Education: The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. Completion of Cooperative Education or Work-based Learning course preferred.

Certification: The ideal candidate will possess a current Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate in a State-approved secondary CTE Program.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have two or more years of recent and relevant teaching experience in one of the State-approved secondary CTE programs listed below:

11.0201 Computer Programming/Programmer

11.0901 Computer Syst Networking & Telecommunications

12.0400 Cosmetology

12.0500 Cooking & Related Culinary Arts

13.0000 Education General


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Regularly promote work-based education programs with students, parents, educators, agencies, and employers.
  • Provide job placement services for students.
  • Establish and maintain a strong partnership with local colleges and the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training.
  • Utilize the support services of the case managers on a timely basis.
  • Seek out and participate in approved professional development activities.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive work-based education program for assigned occupational areas through the following activities:
    • Develop work-based education sites with employers and provide employer orientation/training.
    • Work with instructional staff to identify students for work-based education and match the student with the site.
    • Establish work-based education agreements with the student, employer, parent, and instructor.
    • Monitor student attendance, progress, work habits, career path, and adherence to the work-based agreement through regular site visitations.
    • Monitor site’s adherence to work-based agreement and risk management through regular site visitations.
    • Keep classroom instructors informed of work-based activities and progress.
    • Keep up to date and accurate education records and site visitation log with required anecdotal notes.
    • Continuously develop, evaluate, and update curriculum for the employer-based contracted training component.
    • Maintain compliance with all State work-based program laws and regulations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Position Employment Date: 2022-2023 school year-upon board approval, pending background check and drug screening

Length of Contract: 185-Day School Year

Salary: per the IEA Contract

Fringe Benefits: per the IEA Contract
