WIC (Women, Infants & Children) is a supplemental food and nutrition education program for women, infants, and children. This position provides program support by performing clerical and nutrition paraprofessional tasks, assessing eligibility requirements and performing automated functions pertaining to the operation of the county-wide program.


DUTIES:

  • Regular and direct contact with the public working one-on-one with program participants, explain procedures, answer questions, and make referrals
  • Obtain height, weight and hemoglobin, provide nutrition education
  • Assist with various clerical tasks which include answering the phone, scheduling client appointments, word processing
  • Transport clinic equipment and supplies


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exhibit and maintain professionalism with staff and clients
  • Display good judgment, flexibility, courtesy, and integrity
  • Possess good communication skills, be able to follow oral and written directions
  • Maintain confidentiality and be a positive role model
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

MINIMUM QUALIFIFACTIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED with certification or course work from an accredited vocational program in food/nutrition, medical training or human services
  • One to three years related experience in working with children & families or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Valid NYS Driver's License with good driving record and access to a reliable, properly insured vehicle for reimbursed travel throughout the county

37.5 hours per week with flexibility

Monday through Friday per clinic schedule
