Welder Job at Benicia Fabrication
Responsibilites:
- Use safety equipment and work in a safe manner.
Weld components horizontally, vertically, and overhead.
To complete electrical circuits, light torches or turn on power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals to be welded.
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind, or bolt component components to produce needed configurations and locations for welding, sometimes using positioners, according to fitters' directions.
Change gas bottles for welding equipment and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using the techniques indicated below.
- To avoid overheating parts or material warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion, keep an eye on the burning and welding processes.
Detect and inform supervisors of equipment malfunctions or defective supplies.
Recognize, set up, and operate typical hand and power tools used in welding.
Use a small forklift, scissor lift, and overhead crane to complete tasks.
To fulfill deadlines, collaborate efficiently with coworkers and other departments.
Lift and rotate heavy equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, as well as big metal components weighing up to 60 pounds.
**Skills/Qualifications/Licensing:**
- Per ASME code rules, perform SMAW (Shielded metal arc welding, also known as stick welding) in 3G vertical up position with back gouge that will pass 100% x-ray.
- Per ASME code rules, FCAW (Flux core arc welding), GMAW (Gas metal arc welding), GTAW (Gas tungsten arc welding), SAW (Submerged arc welding), and SAW Strip welding will pass 100% x-ray.
- Metal components should be plasma cut or burned with oxy-acetylene.
- Air arc
Education/Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical/Business School Experience: High School Diploma or GED Vocational/Technical/Business School Experience.
Three to five years of experience, shop qualified in each of the above-mentioned welding processes

- GD&T
- Blueprint Reading
- Welding Setups for Production
Machines & technologies you'll use:
- MIG Welder
- TIG Welder
