Weekend Shift Metro Transit Ambassadors Job at Strive Well-Being, Inc.

We are looking for Metro Transit System Community Ambassadors to engage the public with assistance and resources while utilizing and riding Metro throughout Los Angeles county. You will be riding trains or stationed on designated elevators and rail station platforms and will be in a fixed post or roving assignment for each shift. Ambassadors will be responsible for maintaining a high degree of visibility, following the System’s code of conduct, deterring disruptive/destructive behavior, and de-escalating/referring situations to the appropriate Metro safety and support teams.
These are Entry-Level positions paying Living Wages and Benefits, including paid time off and health Insurance. Full-time and Part-time positions are available for the following shifts:
**Part-Time Weekend Shift Available**
4:30am – 1pm / 12:30pm – 9pm (Monday – Friday)
7:30am – 4pm / 3:30pm – 8pm (Saturday/Sunday)
Paid Training Provided for up to 2 weeks.
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Experience working with and/or lived-in experience in homelessness, addiction or at-risk categories
- Excellent prioritization skills
- Experience in providing trauma-informed care
- Maintain a record of all safety and outreach services. This includes the following: facility safety, community mental health programs, community outreach programs or homeless outreach programs
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- De-escalation skills
- Bi-lingual (Spanish or other)
Responsibilities:
· Reports to Supervisors
· Ambassadors ride Metro trains on specified lines at designated times to monitor activities and document all issues and interactions with the public
· Ambassadors work in pairs or solo to interact and provide support to Metro riders and staff
· Provide customer service and support to riders who have questions regarding Metro and its services
· Attends daily briefing meetings to receive assignments
· Maintain a high degree of visibility, deterring disruptive/destructive behavior and reporting this type of behavior to the appropriate safety and support teams
· Refer riders in critical cognitive crisis or public safety to mental health specialist and Metro System Security or law enforcement
· Identify potentially unsafe situations and report public safety conditions to Metro, homeless outreach services, or law enforcement
· Report maintenance issues and potential safety hazards to Metro Maintenance and System Security
· Provide homeless population with information about resources available in the community to assist them
· Connect people experiencing homelessness and people who may be experiencing mental health crises with county and city resources and services
· Provide services such as welcoming greeters, interacting with all Metro riders and staff in a welcoming and community-oriented, respectful, and kind manner
· Understand and utilize all technology and communication equipment provided
· Understand and utilize Metro’s radio communication network
