- Repair and or replace light fixture ballasts
- Repair and or replace electrical outlets or switches
- Repair and or isolate flush valves or faucets
- Repair and or isolate drinking fountains
- Minor repair and installation of equipment
- Ability to perform minor repairs on walls and paint
- Ability to make minor adjustments to door hardware including closures and handles
- Ability to reset boilers, air handling units, exhaust fans and other HVAC items
- Ability to test fuses and replace fuses in equipment.
- Maintain the knowledge, skills, and physical ability necessary to perform the areas outlined in the qualifications for the position.
- Shall perform building security inspections of the building and grounds.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the building assigned to and must possess a complete understanding of the areas that must be kept locked and secured.
- Shall have a thorough understanding of the operations of the buildings mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.
- Shall be able to inspect for any vandalism or damage to the building during the security function of the position.
- Shall notify appropriate personnel, police or fire when issues arise where notification is necessary. If in doubt of whom to notify, then contact the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to get assistance with the decision.
- Shall use technology to check schedules, work orders, weather, email etc.
- When not performing security duties on weekends and holidays, shall perform other tasks as assigned in the job classifications of custodial or maintenance either as a sub or on specific assignments beyond subbing.
- Shall comply with and observe appropriate required codes.
- Shall identify and take action to remedy potential safety and health problems in the building.
- Shall project a positive image of the district to students, staff and the general public.
- Shall report in writing to the supervisor of any observed misuses or needed repairs to school property, including repairs made during security duties.
- Shall participate in district-sponsored training programs to maintain and update knowledge, skills, certifications, and licenses as required for this position.
- Shall perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a current driver's license recognized in the State of Illinois.
- Must possess a Certified Pool Operators (CPO) certification for buildings with pools.
- Must have experience in custodial and maintenance operations.

DESCRIPTION: Weekend/Holiday Generalist - 2nd Shift (CM) Initial Location FVEC WHG10, Grade I 40 hrs/wk Effective: October 22, 2021
ASSIGNMENT: 12 Month
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide weekend and holiday security inspections in the building and grounds utilizing security standards set in place by district administration. When not working on weekends or holidays the employee shall work at their assigned building performing custodial or maintenance work as directed by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor (BGS), Facility Manager (FM) or their designee.While performing weekend and holiday duties, the employee will be responsible to meet building use groups, clean up after each group, perform minor repairs on mechanical equipment, perform custodial duties and to report any issues to their supervisor.
While working on weekends and holidays the employee will work as the main contact for district functions such as athletics and drama and for building rental groups for building access and their needs.
If an issue does arise on the weekend, the Weekend/Holiday Generalist (WHG) will notify their immediate supervisor immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Maintain regular attendance with no occurrences of attendance abuse during the previous two years as described in Article 13 Section E of the current agreement.
Must be able to verbally and be able to use technology to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding with students, staff and the general public.
Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Must be able to use prescribed safety and personal protective equipment
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a frequent basis and up to 80 lbs on an occasional basis.
Must be able to perform difficult physical labor in variable weather conditions such as hot, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a frequent basis, and work from scaffolding and lifts on an occasional basis.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach while performing various assignments as well as operate all related equipment.
Must have the ability to work independently and be self-motivated and self-directed in absence of supervision.
Must have successfully completed District–recognized courses in Plumbing 1, Electricity 1, and Steam Plant 1.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and physical ability necessary for the repairs or maintenance of basic skills such as but not limited to:
