The opportunity

As the Manager of Web Technologies, you are responsible for creating a scalable, secure, and feature-rich portfolio of websites that provides a rewarding experience for our audience. We are looking for someone to help take our portfolio of 20+ websites with more than 10 million monthly visitors to the next level. As a master of technology and leadership, you will help define and execute a path to success; this is an incredible opportunity to create technology that will have a lasting impact.

Beyond our web presence, we leverage the rich traffic data to generate invaluable insights that power our other products and offerings at TechnologyAdvice. You will report to the Director of Engineering in our Audience Development department.


What you'll do

  • Manage a WordPress development environment in a fast-paced and rapidly growing company
  • Agile professional who excels in a fast paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward
  • Manage a team of Web Developers, including professional development, goal setting, and performance management
  • Manage vendor relationships, including directing contracted resources
  • Foster a goal-oriented environment with high accountability to move the team and portfolio forward quickly
  • Ongoing analysis of web traffic metrics and development of solutions that can be pitched to boost web presence
  • Assist team members with evaluating project requirements, writing understandable code and documentation, and providing technical direction/architecture feedback
  • Provide the necessary support to ensure our live websites operate efficiently from a functional, performance, and cost perspective
  • Collaborate with our Audience Development, Marketing, and Product Management teams to create world-class websites that support overall company goals
  • Lead or participate in internal initiatives with the potential for multiple concurrent projects while ensuring each is set up to leverage the team's bandwidth and skillsets effectively
  • Participate in departmental recruiting, hiring, and onboarding activities
  • Define and iterate on deployment processes and our hosting environments to meet industry best practices and our portfolio's security, scalability, and reliability needs
  • Live our Core Values and encourage others to do the same while maintaining a healthy work/life balance

Who you are

  • At least 3 years of management experience in a technical capacity
  • At least 5 years of experience in full stack web development
  • Experience using WordPress to host public websites at scale, including the development of custom plugins and themes
  • Experience with support technologies including CDNs, WAFs, caching layers, and web servers to provide a secure and scalable environment
  • Driven self-starter that constantly assesses the situation and focuses on action to move the team forward
  • Experience leveraging data to assess the effectiveness of the team and their associated impact on the business while turning those insights into action to drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to quickly identify business problems and the changes needed to fix them
  • Experience using Agile and Scrum methodologies to deliver projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Eager to learn and quick to contribute
  • Project Management experience is a plus
  • Experience with a publisher or media organization, including experience with relevant laws and regulations such as accessibility and privacy requirements is a bonus

Salary Range
TechnologyAdvice seeks to hire top-tier individuals across the world and intends for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision.

Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$110,000—$165,000 USD
