Web Developer & Support Specialist Job at Winooski School District
Summary of Position Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain state-of-the-art websites for the Winooski School District that are web friendly, user-friendly, ADA compliant, and that can be used as an effective and efficient communication tool with parents, students, employees, and community members. Serves as a member of the Technology Support Team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement procedures for the ongoing design and revision of the Winooski School District public and private websites; establish priorities for website development; plan, review, and evaluate the Winooski School District websites. Work with the Winooski School District Leadership Team and the Director of Communications to create and/or maintain a standard for the website layout/design for each school/department.Meet with school employees to assist with the development and maintenance of their sites (e.g. training, troubleshooting, consulting).
Perform day-to-day maintenance of the Winooski School District and affiliated school/department websites, including quality control for third-party content, navigation and browser compatibility, and ADA compliance; Design web application logic to eliminate problems, accomplish needed changes or increase operational efficiency. Develop and maintain applications and databases by evaluating district needs; analyzing requirements; developing and expanding web applications.Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge about third-party tools/libraries and software used by web applications.Keep up-to-date on web technologies, current developments, and best practices in the field. Design a plan to implement/integrate the best practices.Keep up-to-date on cybersecurity best practices and implementation of those best practices throughout the district network and web applications on an ongoing basis. Strategize web development and content creation guided by SEO and website analytics.Support social media development and assist the Director of Communications with technology-related communication needs.Support the Student Information System Manager with custom coding/programming in the SIS system.Document guidelines/overview of the process, procedures, and training related to web design and internally developed applications.
Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and the Winooski School District policies or rules on website usage, cybersecurity, and standards. Prepare basic user guides to assist teachers with educational software.Read technical manuals, confer with users and conduct diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems, as well as provide technical assistance and support.Operates as a full member of the Technology Support Team and Helpdesk. Work with the Technology Support Team on issues of hardware/software.Other duties as assigned.
