This is an exciting opportunity with the Public Services Department in the Water Treatment Plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the mechanical and manual work of complex tasks and will be responsible for operating and maintaining a water treatment plant, equipment, and grounds on an assigned shift.
Responsibilities include exercising independent judgment and initiative in solving routine maintenance and operating problems.

Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Monitors meters, dials, and gauges and records data on reports or into the computer as required.

• Operates pumps, valves, and gates to transfer water from one treatment unit to another.
• Cleans, paints, and performs other services to pumps, motors, tanks, and other plant equipment as necessary.
• Performs basic water operational control tests and records results.
• Installs and removes chlorine containers in a safe manner.
• Inspects odor control chemical feed equipment for proper operation.
• Adjusts plant process within established policy.
• Performs custodial duties on plant grounds and buildings.
• Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver’s license with an overall good driving record is required. If the driver’s license is out of state, one must be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license within six (6) months of the hire date.
Requires Class “C” certification in water treatment as issued by the State of Florida. The incumbent has been deemed a safety-sensitive position in accordance with Florida State Statute Chapter 112.0455 Drug-Free Workplace Act and is subject to pre-employment drug screening.
