We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience in green stormwater infrastructure design and a working knowledge of sustainable design principles. The role would involve leading compact team of civil engineering designers for green infrastructure projects and providing design support oversight for stormwater management aspects of other office projects. Experience would ideally also include experience designing green stormwater infrastructure systems within public rights-of-ways and other public spaces within the City of Philadelphia, and a proven track record of successfully completing all phases of projects ranging from master planning and conceptual design through construction documentation and administration.
The position is ideally suited for a candidate with:
- Proven experience with both design and project management of urban projects involving green stormwater infrastructure
- Proven abilities as a project manager and possessing the necessary skills to successfully manage projects, including the ability to mentor designers, properly schedule deliverables, budgeting, and developing a comfortable rapport with clients, team members, and external partners.
- Enthusiasm to work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team comprised of engineers, landscape architects, and planners to make positive and impactful change in our communities through design.
- Proven ability and clear enthusiasm to mentor staff and help our office grow our green infrastructure practice
- Interest and willingness to assist our team with projects involving greenways & trails, roadways, parks and other neighborhood improvements for various public private clients.
- Experience in business development, including responding to request for proposals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical design duties will include performing and reviewing design, report writing, specification development, scheduling, QA/QC, budgeting, and cost estimating. Project management duties include scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing.
- The position will require coordination with internal project team members within the Philadelphia office and possibly across several regional NV5 offices, as well as subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting other teams in the office as needed.
- Marketing efforts, such as proposal writing and participating in business development and marketing events and activities will also be needed, though initially the focus of the position would be more on technical deliverables and task/project management.
- High degree of enthusiasm to join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, landscape architects, and planners who are trying to improve our local communities through design.
- P.E. License
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering
- At least 8 years of design experience
- Proven project management experience
- Proven ability to mentor junior staff
- Proficient in the necessary software including AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient in Hydrology and Hydraulic Modeling for urban stormwater management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for design and working within a team
- Ability to balance multiple projects at once
