Job Description
Under general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor, performs technical work related to the operation, repair and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, and performs related work as required. Job Responsibilities
Operates, repairs and maintains the wastewater treatment plant and sludge handling facility
Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
Performs the collection of various samples onsite and in the field
Analyzes and interprets data
Prepares and maintains records and files
Adheres to the quality system
Reports deviations from the quality assurance plan and takes necessary action to bring the quality
Performs other related work as required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
WWTP Operator IV - Requires thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and equipment used in wastewater treatment system operation; knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work; some knowledge of the techniques used in gathering samples and routine testing required in wastewater treatment
Requires completion of training in wastewater equivalent to two years at a community college level - OR - some combination of training and experience that results in the same level of knowledge of wastewater treatment
Physical Requirements
Hazards: May be exposed to chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, live micro-organisms, dust, fumes, noise, wastewater, vibrations and repetitiveness
Environment: Office & Field May be exposed to adverse weather
Physical: Occasional Lifting of objects over 50 pounds Additional Information

Essential Employee
Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License
Twelve-month probationary period
Requires Class IV license as wastewater treatment plant operator within 12 months of employment
May work beyond normal schedule; Some positions require shift work, including weekends. holidays and nights
Must wear uniform; including safety equipment
