Victor Insurance is seeking a Senior Professional Liability Underwriter. The position is open to being remote. We are looking for a team player to join a high performing team. Someone who understands financial analysis, is self-motivated, who enjoys both analytical and interpersonal activities mixed throughout their day will enjoy this role.

What can you expect?

  • This role is for a senior position on a team of underwriters responsible for a substantial book of Architect & Engineer’s professional liability business.

  • Problem solving and critical thinking are required to analyze data, provide recommended underwriting action, and to communicate clearly with insureds, brokers and carrier partners both verbally and in writing.

  • This role requires regular travel to meet with brokers and insureds throughout the United States. Travel is scheduled several weeks in advance and is largely self-scheduled. Total trips during the year average 10 to 15 with a one-to-three-night duration.

  • You will be directly responsible for an assigned book of business. Within the bounds of provided underwriting guidelines, you will manage the book of business while also sourcing new business opportunities. You will look to establish and build relationships with both brokers and insureds.

  • As a senior underwriter, you will over time: serve as internal leaders in training; serve as mentors for less experienced colleagues, assist in developing new products and rating plans; develop industry and association relationships; and provide presentations and commentary at conferences and publications as an expert in their field.

We will count on you to:

  • Consults with clients on insurance risk and offers solutions that best fit their situation and circumstances.

  • Reviews and analyzes major submissions without assistance and identifies new business opportunities to generate new accounts while maintaining a book of existing business.

  • Conducts quality assurance of the insurance risk calculations from junior underwriting staff.

  • Completes policy issuance and handles account transactions by negotiating and obtaining mutual agreement from clients, and binds coverage and initiates issuance of documents.

  • Identifies and obtains additional information required for proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments.

  • Declines quotes by identifying loss predictions and forwarding recommendations.

  • Reviews and analyzes new submissions for context and requirements in adherence to state laws and regulations for ratings and quotations.

  • Establishes and maintains business relationships with carriers and brokers to negotiate terms and conditions and to expand business with the client account.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $91,800 to $195,800.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
