Position Overview
The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a Volunteer Program Manager for the Statewide Volunteer Program for the State of Illinois. This position develops and implements training programs tailored to the needs of volunteers; develops, organizes, and evaluates achievements of goals and objectives of programs and initiatives for the Department, Serve Illinois Commission, and federal funding agency; and develops, coordinates, and implements volunteer and community recognition programs to include the National Service Summit, regional conference planning, Governor's Volunteer Service Awards and the Governor's Hometown Awards in coordination with the Serve Illinois Commission.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as Volunteer Program manager for the Statewide Volunteer Program for the state of Illinois.
- Develops and implements training programs tailored to the needs of volunteers.
- Develops, organizes, and evaluates achievements of goals and objectives of programs and initiatives for the Department, Serve Illinois Commission, and federal funding agency.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements volunteer and community recognition programs to include the Governor's Volunteer Service Awards and the Governor's Hometown Awards in coordination with the Serve Illinois Commission.
- Serves as the Disaster Preparedness liaison, supervises the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for efficient and effective utilization of resources for programs that promote national service and use of volunteers to help communities prepare for and responds to community needs of all kinds.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires skill, knowledge, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in preferably in social or human services related field.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health or human service organization.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS:
- Of the three (3) years of required experience, requires two (2) years of experience in volunteer recruitment and retention strategies along with a working knowledge of public relations/social media marketing and one year of experience in a lead organizer role for large scale (200+ attendees) trainings/conferences, award ceremonies/special events as well as program budgeting and procurement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience in volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in public relations/social media marketing.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in a lead organizer role for large scale (200+ attendees) trainings/conferences, award ceremonies/special events as well as program budgeting and procurement.
- Three (3) years of professional experience developing and managing a supportive agency function program.
- Three (3) years of professional experience analyzing problems and adopting an effective course of action.
- Three (3) years of professional experience developing, installing, and evaluating new and revised methods, procedures, and performance standards.
