Vocational Support Specialist - Downingtown, PA Job at Chester County Intermediate Unit
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with secondary students preferred
- Experience in industry preferred
- 3-5 years of job coaching experience preferred
- MVR check and approval to drive school vans based on school policies
- Current police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required upon hire
- Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and the federal government (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)
- Coordinate job coaching assignments, administer assessments and provide pre-vocational training & support to students referred to the program.
- Develop community partnerships to support job shadowing, vocational and/or job exploration to meet student interests and needs.
- Coordinate and deliver classroom instruction pertinent to career and vocational skills in conjunction with classroom teachers.
- Excellent medical, prescription, vision, and dental coverage at minimal cost to employees
- If medical, prescription, vision, and/or dental coverage is not needed, up to $10,392/year is available in opt-out payments
- 1.5% of annual salary flexible benefit cash payment
- Life insurance in amount of 2.5x annual salary paid by CCIU

At the present time, a vacancy exists for a Vocational Support Specialist within the Discover at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). This position will be based out of our office in Downingtown, PA. The Discover Program offers a comprehensive work-based learning approach related service that prepares high school students with disabilities to transition from school to adult life.
The CCIU provides services to the 12 school districts in Chester County. This includes services to nearly 86,000 public and non-public school students and over 6,000 educators. The Chester County Intermediate Unit is one of 29 regional educational agencies established by law in Pennsylvania in 1971. Working between the Pennsylvania State Department of Education and the local school districts, the Intermediate Unit's mission is to provide services that can be offered most economically at the regional level.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours per day for 185 days per year. Our year runs from late August – early/mid-June following a typical school schedule.
