Position Details
The department of Student Care and Advocacy at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Victim Advocate. Reporting to the director of Student Care and Advocacy, the Victim Advocate (VA) contributes to the work of Operations and Planning by outreach and support to students who have been the victim of a crime of violence. This position also works collaboratively across the UT campus and in the Tampa community to educate and work towards prevention of interpersonal violence.
This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.

Responsibilities
1. Provide confidential support and resources to students who have been the victim of sexual and interpersonal violence
2. Coordination of communication as necessary to other University offices and local, state and federal agencies on behalf of the student
3. Collaborate with and educate other strategic campus offices (Title IX, Student Conduct, Residence Life, Student Accessibility Services, Advising, Campus Safety) on issues relating to trauma-informed victim services
4. Conduct programs and other educational student outreaches on the topics of sexual and interpersonal violence, bystander intervention programming, and trauma-informed care
5. Perform on call duties as assigned for victim advocacy
6. Identify emerging concerns, trends, and issues for current students and provide relevant education, programming, and outreach campus wide including Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Take Back the Night events
7. Cross training required to assist with non-clinical case management
8. Assist in planning projects for student peer educators
9. Design and maintain data relating to program usage and overall campus climate towards interpersonal violence
10. Create and execute an assessment schedule that provides for continuous improvement towards prevention efforts
11. Maintain an up to date working knowledge of all related technical applications, software, and programs
12. To anonymously report all campus crimes, as defined by the federal Jeanne Clery Act, as a Campus Security Authority
13. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in counseling, sociology, education, or related field required, Masters preferred
2. Experience working in higher education in at least two of the following areas: emergency response, crisis management, residence life, counseling, case management, student conduct, meditation, victim advocacy, gender-based violence
3. Background in working with data in order to improve prevention programming
4. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff members as well as collaborative community partners
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
6. Demonstrated ability to mediate and problem solve
7. Commitment to the education and development of the whole student
8. Willingness to work a flexible schedule
9. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Advocate, and Microsoft Office.
10. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices
