Position Overview
The Vice President of Payor Relations acts as a key member of the executive leadership team. This position is responsible for creating comprehensive relationships with payors on a local and regional level and oversees the organization-wide contractual, operational, and analytics responsibilities related to payors.
In aligning with our business strategies and in order to succeed in this position, the selected candidate must be capable of demonstrating innovative solutions to move beyond historical Payor-Provider roles to adjust to the dynamics of the current and future dental-services models.
This role is based in Inglewood, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all payor contracting activities through strategies that ensure optimal financial, clinical, and operational outcomes
- Establish and manage the execution of strategic payor plans and budgets with the appropriate performance standards, metrics, and reporting tools
- Develop and drive the execution of the strategic payor relationships collaboratively with leadership, establishing payor-specific direction and initiatives
- Responsible for managing the performance of managed care contracts, including fee-for-service, value-based, and capitation models
- Prepare financial reports to review, assess, and analyze utilization trends and overall financial performance of contracts. Identify improvement opportunities with rates and/or contract language and develop plans for improvements
- Partner with clinical leadership to provide key analytical insights into procedure level trends and details
- Advise leadership on emerging trends and methodologies in contracting, value-based models, payor relations, and legal issues
- Represent and advocate for the affiliated providers as issues, opportunities, and disputes arise
- Develop pricing methodologies in support of new programs or clinical business planning
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to identify partnership opportunities by state or region to increase patient referrals and/or reimbursements
- Provide guidance on changes in reimbursement methodologies, as well as changes in state and federal legislation, to ensure plans maximize payor relations and maintains adequacy of payment for the services we provide
- Negotiate managed care contracts and affiliated partner contracts, where applicable, and maintain the overall contract renewal process
- Oversee the financial modeling of various reimbursement scenarios that support achieving strategic priorities associated with commercial payer arrangements
Background and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferably administration, finance, business or related field
- Experience structuring and negotiating contracts
- Demonstrated skills as a strong negotiator with the ability to navigate through complex agreements with minimal supervision and to work independently to represent the company in identifying and effectively addressing risks
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute departmental strategies, manage budgets, and establish tools to successfully manage contracts
- High degree of analytical capability, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Proven ability to effectively advise business teams on complex legal, regulatory, and business matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to educate and advise company personnel and to provide guidance for implementing legal analysis and advice
The pay range of this position is $200,000 - $240,000 with a 15% - 30% annual bonus.
