About the position: The Vice President* of *Merchandise supports the creation and execution of a Merchandise strategy through multiple channels and categories. They ensure that the Merchandise team works with Marketing and Ecommerce to inform and provide our customers with an exceptional shopping experience. Guest experience will be forefront in their minds as they create an environment where every time the guest comes into contact with the organization, they are better for it.
Essential* Responsibilities: *
- Define and execute a thorough merchandise and pricing strategy that drives sales and profitability.
- Bring great pieces of the Merchandise group together to build an even stronger team that is continually learning with a bench of upcoming talent.
- Evaluate the Major Product mix by conducting line reviews that lead to needed changes and assign products to Merchandise Managers based upon their experience, knowledge and likelihood of success.
- Use best practices to maximize return on inventory and drive rebate programs.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators for the Merchandise team and make the necessary adjustments to maximize outcomes in those areas.
- Be a bridge between the Merchandise, Marketing, Sales, and Ecommerce teams to maximize efficiencies and sales.
- Champion accuracy in the realms of both physical inventory and data integrity.
- Assist in the creation and analysis of data gained through data mining and timely reporting.
- Foster a departmental culture that models our commitment to serve others so that peer departments look forward to their interactions with the Merchandise team.
- Be an organizational thought leader and initiator of interchanges on Merchandise strategies and tactics.
- Stay current on the latest product trends and developments, and educate others on how these may help achieve organizational goals.
Perform all other duties relevant to Merchandise and leadership in general as is necessary or requested by the President of Hartville Hardware.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or a related field and 15+ years of progressive leadership experience preferred. Master’s Degree is a plus.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as project management skills.
