Job Summary
The Vehicle Mechanic maintains and repairs all Homewood vehicles including trucks, loaders, snowmobiles, ATV’s, busses, shuttles, and grooming machines.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following but not limited to:

Values our safety culture, our community, and maintaining a healthy, sustainable environment. Ensures that guests and employees have a fun, safe, and memorable experience. Asks questions, shares concerns, or gives ideas on innovation and efficiencies that improve both the guests’ and employees’ experience.
  • Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following:
    • Perform routine maintenance services and checks on all vehicles and equipment including snow removal machines, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
    • Diagnose and repair of all company vehicles and equipment
    • Diagnose and repair of diesel engines.
    • Maintain logs and work sheets of inspections and maintenance performed on all equipment.
    • Basic knowledge of Mig and Stick Welding
    • May operate a variety of light equipment and power tools while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies with this equipment.
    • Minor snow removal around shop and off equipment
    • Other duties may be assigned as needed

  • Experience driving over-the-snow vehicles (snowmobiles and sprites) highly desirable.

  • Language Skills:
    • Literate and fluent in English.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Additional language(s) desirable.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, area, circumference, and volume to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, mathematical, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Prior ski resort or hospitality experience desirable.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:
    • Valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by Homewood’s insurance carrier.
    • Knowledge of DOT and DMV requirements and regulations for staff and busses. Familiar with Placer County parking codes and knowledge of Ski Homewood parking permit.

Employment with Homewood Mountain Resort is “at will” for no definite period of time. The employee may terminate employment at any time without notice or cause, and so too can Homewood terminate employment relationship at any time without notice or cause.
