Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an Executive Director of Student Health Services. This full-time Executive Director will provide leadership for the operations of the Student Health Services (SHS) and participates as a faculty member within the College of Medicine, Division of Education Innovation and Student Life (EISL), and the University.

The ideal candidate will provide progressive, positive, and effective leadership in the institution’s commitment to the promotion of health and well-being of MUSC students. This position will provide overall direction, leadership, management, and strategic vision to the clinic, including the delivery and assurance of the quality of clinical care and overall direction, training, and mentorship of the SHS staff.

Job Description

  • In-person and virtual primary care services and health promotion programs to eligible students at MUSC.
  • Train and support students, staff, and faculty and advises University leadership in best practices related to student health promotion, health care, and well-being.
  • Serves as a medical advisor and resource to university leadership and the campus community on matters related to student health and well-being.
  • Works closely with the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, the Executive Director of SHS implements activities and programs that promote an integration of physical and mental health care and education.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • M.D or D.O
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Served as a primary care provider for at least 5 years
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in primary healthcare
  • Prior experience working in college student health settings or previous collaborative experience with an understanding of college health missions and programs, preferred
