Undergraduate Financial Aid Counselor Job at Campbell University

Position Summary:
The Undergraduate Financial Aid Counselor serves as the direct liaison as it relates to Admissions functions that require the Financial Aid Office presence, to include, but not limited to; Visitation Days, Accepted Student Days and Orientation. This highly visible position will be the first point of contact for inquirers and prospective students and is instrumental in establishing a welcoming and helpful environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsel prospective and returning students on all aspects of Federal, State, and Institutional Aid sources
- Understanding of Admissions and Bursar Office processes to effectively communicate to prospective and admitted students
- Assist in the planning and event setup involving Financial Aid to include, but not limited to, Orientation, Visitation, and Accepted Student Days
- Network with local high school counselors to develop and coordinate financial aid events in the area
- Coordinate with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure staffing and resources are available for events and distribution to visitors
- Coordinate outreach to prospective students using multiple messaging platforms (Email, Newsletters, Texting, Phone Calls, and Social Media)
- Review and edit financial aid website data in conjunction with Director of Financial Aid
- Review and analyze website data to develop timely and essential communication to students
- Create video guides to help students and families understand the financial aid process
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Other job related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and Information Security, including but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal guidelines
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in higher education desired
- Experience in Admissions or Financial Aid desired
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, such as web/text/chat platforms
- Ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
- Proficiency utilizing/administering social media platforms
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, parents, university officials and the public
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
- Exercise good judgment in complex and new situations
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
- Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
- This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
