Description: The reporter will be responsible for news gathering through research, interviews, writing news packages and posting of stories to the internet. The ideal candidate lives and breathes news and is familiar with Guam politics, education, crime, court cases and other issues facing the island locally and globally, or has the passion and desire to learn these issues. He or she is not shy and loves to be in front of the camera or is comfortable in front of a crowd. The reporter is not afraid to ask the tough questions and to hold government and community leaders accountable.
Responsibilities:
- Research, interview and write multiple news stories and packages every day
- Knows how to copy edit and fact check for accuracy in news stories, AP style knowledge a must
- Meet tight deadlines under immense pressure
- Be able to do live standups from the field
Requirements:
- College degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- Must have experience in writing for news publication or blog
- Fluency in social media
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision but also able to take direction from supervisors or senior staff
- Must have reliable transportation
- Flexibility to work odd hours or weekends in the event of breaking news
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18,000.00 - $24,000.00 per year
