• The High-Tech Product Development team of Vegetable Seeds is looking for a talented individual for the Trial Technician job.
• Setting-up, executing, and evaluating trials for Vegetable Seeds' plant breeding program, while also developing variety-specific growing recipes for our digital data-driven strategy and market
• development.
• Working remotely from home in Southeast New England (MA, RI, NH, CT, ME), the job requires traveling in the region as a daily commute.
• Overnight travel, both domestic and international, accrues up to 30% of the time.
• The position offers generous compensation for the qualified candidate; company holidays, paid vacation time and mileage reimbursement.
• We are seeking someone who would be able to work with us for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of a 3-6 month extension the need arises.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• In coordination with the team, design and coordinate the trial plan for lettuce and spinach in hydroponic systems for high-tech greenhouses in North America.
• This requires setting up, execute, monitor and evaluate trials.
• Interpret and analyze results, communicate conclusions.
• Possess a thorough knowledge of our own and competitors' product portfolios, and discuss the relevant performance of varieties within our development pipeline.
• Organize and coordinate meetings and trial visits to facilitate decision-making on variety elevations.

BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

• This position will support the High-Tech Leafys team (lettuce and spinach).
• Travel outside New England (within the USA, Canada, and The Netherlands) could be up to 30%. Must have a valid passport and driver's license.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks.
• Organizes and balances the trial work within the assigned crops, ensuring the product development objectives are met.
• Ability to communicate with individuals from different backgrounds, cultures, and skill sets.
• Variable working hours depending on the season. Time pressure.
• Indoor Greenhouse work may require long hours on cement floors.
• Physical/manual labor; regularly lifting more than 30 lbs. is a part of the job.
