Our client, Willoughby Construction and Consulting, is hiring for a Traveling Quick Serve Construction Superintendent. This position will be working out of Washington, DC and DMV area.

We are a small family owned and team centered Commercial Construction General Contractor that specializes in renovating and building new Quick Serve and Fast Casual Restaurants and Retail Stores, and Tenant-Fit Out projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast and expanding across the County. The ideal candidate must have experience in Restaurant Construction and Fast-Tracked Construction Projects.

We need someone that can come into a job and hit the ground running with quick serve, fast casual, retail remodeling and new construction. It must be someone that can successfully manage more than one fast turnaround job with multiple subcontractors at a time. We are looking for an individual interested in a fast-paced job where each day has unique challenges. We are looking for candidates that are willing to commute 75 miles or are a traveling superintendent.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum Educational Requirement: High School Diploma
  • Ability to be employed and work in the United States
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to Pass a Background Check
  • Conformance with the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must have their own reliable transportation
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • Must be able to be a self-starter and able to learn, understand and produce work quickly
  • Must be able to come up to speed with how things are done, jump in to the process and continue to develop processes and procedures that fit into and make better, processes, procedures that the company already has in place.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment that doesn’t have formal, rigid methods and processes established. There is no manual for how to do the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Studies specifications and contract to plan procedures for construction, ensuring start and finish times, safety, quality, and staffing/subcontractor requirements for each phase of construction job are met.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws; provide status updates and maintain documentation records.
  • Coordinates Subcontractors work in proper sequence while keeping the overall scheduled completion done.
  • Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Obtains and monitors all permits, building certificates and City inspections.
  • Enforces the organizations Safety policies and also by establishing a climate that emphasizes safety on the job.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship and materials conform to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, punch lists daily diaries, billing sheets pictures and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Coordinates and approvals all time and material costs with various sub-contractors. Maintains daily paperwork.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 to 4+ years’ experience/knowledge of construction.
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of Company and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Contracting experience with local, state, and federal government is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to present self in a professional manner and represent the company image
  • Demonstrated track record of leadership and project success
  • Ability to work in fast-paced setting
