Training Technician II Job at DMR-Southeast Region
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Southeastern Residential Services (SRS) in the Southeast Region, is searching for a compassionate, enthusiastic professional for the role of Training Technician II who is eager to train and assist individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, agency staff and Family /Guardians to improve their quality of life through training.
The Training Technician will design, develop, and conduct trainings for agency staff, individuals, and Family/Guardian members. Assess training need and evaluate program results. Consult with technical and professional staff on the planning and implementation of training programs. Trainings will be conducted both onsite and within Residential settings. Trainings conducted include but not limited to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR/First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Employee Orientation, Mandatory Trainings, Positive Behavioral Supports, Person Centered Planning and other trainings as needed.
Job Responsibilities: (The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive)
- Provide, coordinate, and develop training for staff, individuals, and family/guardians across the agency. Develop an agency- wide schedule to ensure that approximately 600 staff is trained and competent in applying CPR/First Aid techniques which includes the use of the automated external Defibrillator (AED). Maintain certification as appropriate.
- Order all teaching tools and supplies, clean teaching aids incompliance with the American Heart Association Guidelines.
- Work directly with Safety Program Consultants for consultation and advice issue Heart Saver/Provider Certification cards and ensure the payment process is completed.
- Conduct trainings directly related to the enhancement of skills for all Direct Support Staff.
- Participate in workgroups and committees that review regulations, policies, changes, and initiatives.
- Develop and revise training content to ensure that all trainings reflect current DDS practice and support the agency and Department’s mission and long-term goals.
- Participate in agency strategic planning days; takes the leading organizing, planning, and facilitating trainings across the agency.
- Attend trainings, workshops, and conferences to remain current in knowledge and practice related to work assignment.
- Prepare manuals, handbooks, brochures for training or reference purposes.
- Analyze survey information to determine effectiveness of trainings.
- Chair meetings or group discussions regarding training programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disability.
- At least 1 year teaching or training experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with Individual Service Plans
(ISP’s) and Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS’s). - Experience working with Committees and Families.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Special Requirements:
- Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing assigned unit activities.
- Skilled in operating audio-visual equipment such as projectors, tape recorders, etc.
- Understand the principles and practices of training curriculum development and training needs assessment and evaluation techniques.
Agency Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Schedule Information:
Full-time – 37.5-hour weekly position
Schedule – Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Days off – Sunday and Saturday
Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.

ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT.
This is a Civil Service position. If there is no Civil Service list for this title, employees appointed must take and pass the next Civil Service examination when administered.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in teaching, instructing or training work which included the planning, development or implementation of educational or employee training programs as a major duty, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in education may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience*
II. A Graduate degree with a major in education may be substituted for the required experience.
- Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
