Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Five (5) years of full-time experience delivering training in an adult learning and/or instructional design role. Experience assessing training needs, designing, developing, delivering, and/or evaluating training programs.
Preferred Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Advanced Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience delivering supervisory training. Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design principles. Experience designing and delivering compliance-based training programs. Experience utilizing a Learning Management System. Experience developing on-line training. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Talent Development Specialist is responsible for coordinating, developing and delivering high quality training programs that recognize, develop and enhance employee performance. The successful incumbent will have the ability to design and implement effective training and development. In order to provide high quality training programs, the specialist will be adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. The Talent Development Specialist will conduct assessments of training needs by consulting with administrative and academic units to identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees at all levels. Sound leadership skills and strong facilitation and interpersonal skills will be essential for the success of this position.
The Specialist will also be responsible for measuring the effectiveness of training programs and ensuring that training activities align with the University goals and objectives. Measuring the effectiveness of the established training programs will require strong analytical skills. The Talent Development Specialist will have strong presentation skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives is essential. The Talent Development Specialist will have excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. This position will require the ability to meet multiple deadlines therefore the successful incumbent must have excellent time management skills with the ability to problem-solve.
- Develop, implement, and conduct training programs for the West Campus and Health Sciences Center that support the University’s mission, values and goals.
- Determine training strategy and resource requirements for all training projects in technical, operational, and behavioral content areas, including the administration of new employee orientation programs, compliance requirements and informational workshops and courses.
- Confer with management, Business Partners, Legal, Labor Relations and OEA to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand policies, procedures, regulations, and technology and to understand areas requiring skills development.
- Establish and lead mentorship, leadership and career development efforts.
- Participate in workshops and events as a trainer, as needed. This will include handling high-level Management Confidential (M/C) one-on-one orientation scheduling prior to public announcement.
- Identify, establish, and maintain working relationships with internal resources and external providers of training or educational opportunities for employees, including various central office resources, Subject-Matter Expert (SME) training (e.g., Environmental Health & Safety), and/or independent training vendors.
- Maintain HRS Training webpage, ensuring course offerings are up-to-date, registration is open for all courses and ensuring employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
- Design/assist in design of online courses and other programs as needed.
- Capture evaluation information for all completed programs.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of surveys as needed.
- May supervise training and support staff.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a Management Confidential position. This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
