Traffic and Inventory Manager - Geismar - 6157 Job at IMTT
Job Summary
The Traffic and Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the traffic department and ensuring all inventory control practices are being performed efficiently. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all activities within the terminal. Provide leadership and resolution of customer quality related issues. As a team member, this position will assist in other traffic, maintenance, engineering, and EHS&S related activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage marine, rail, truck, and pipeline deliveries into and redeliveries out of the bulk terminal utilizing computer-based planning and order tracking systems.
- Assure that appropriate documentation is generated for terminal receipts and shipments, including B/Ls, regulatory required shipping documents, safety placards, etc.
- Set up, maintain, and account for inventory of product in tanks, utilizing computer-based inventory monitoring and reporting systems.
- Monitor and manage customer’s orders via customer’s ERP system (SAP) and monitor interface with terminal’s order tracking and inventory system.
- Assure correct reporting of terminal activities to customer and to corporate office utilizing the available computer-based systems and interfaces.
- Customer liaison.
- Manage customer service representatives.
- Perform (back-up) control room operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in traffic management in the Petro-Chemical or tank storage industry.
- Experience in tank gauging, bulk liquid inventory calculation and tracking.
- Active experience in Emergency Response.
- Valid Driver’s License
- TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.
- Management or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
- Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).
- Capable of participating in the terminal emergency response organization
- Proficient in the use of computer automated control and monitoring systems.
- Professional safety training.
Hours of Work
- Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
- This position requires the ability to perform overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
- Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

- This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the outside environment where temperatures routinely reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
- Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
- Ability to wear and use a respirator and PPE.
- Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the labor force must be able to evacuate quickly from any location of the facility without assistance in an emergency.
